Meeting Summary
The first SOTS meeting on GU cancer focused on use of "clinical state"-specific models within the prostate cancer progression spectrum for guiding the development of novel agents, defining diagnostic objectives, planning treatment, and assessing therapy efficacy. Panelists urged the development of non-cytotoxic, non-hormonal therapeutic interventions, emphasizing the importance of validating and prioritizing molecular targets. Molecular targets included those involved in signal transduction, cell cycle control, and stromal-cellular interactions. Also discussed were advances in diagnostic molecular and cellular imaging, particularly the advantages afforded by radiotracers and functional and "fusion" (PET/CT/MRI/MRS) imaging. |
