DR. TRIMBLE: Next, Jane Fountain will introduce our colleagues from the various ovarian cancer SPOREs. There is obviously a lot of overlap, as most of the people involved in the SPOREs have also been involved in GOG over the years.
DR. FOUNTAIN: Good morning, everyone. It is really my pleasure to be here today, and we are very hopeful that the SPOREs can better integrate and also collaborate with the GOG, especially on treatment trials.
I would like to first introduce the individuals who are representative of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, SPORE. The head of that SPORE is Ron Alvarez. Also, Mack Barnes.
Next, we have the M.D. Anderson SPORE, whose PI is Bob Bast, and also, co-PI, David Gershenson, and we have a number of other folks from the SPORE. Karen Lu was unable to attend because of illness. We have Anil Sood, and also Judy Wolf.
The next SPORE I would like to introduce is the Fox-Chase Cancer Center SPORE. The PI of that SPORE is Bob Ozols. The co-PI is Tom Hamilton. We have other members also present, Andy Godwin, and Russell Schilder. I believe that is it from Fox-Chase.
The Fred Hutchinson SPORE, unfortunately, Nicole Urban was not able to join us today. She is the PI is that SPORE, but we have a number of representatives here.
Beth Karlan, who is actually at Cedars Sinai, but she is a co-investigator on the Hutch SPORE, Beatrice Knudsen, and Hashim Tamimi. I believe that is it for that SPORE.
The Harvard SPORE, Mike Seiden, Sam Mok. I believe that is it for the Harvard SPORE. Again, I would just like to say welcome. I am glad everybody was able to attend the meeting.
I just wanted to make a few very brief comments. The SPORE group, the ovarian SPORE group in particular, has been very successful at developing an infrastructure taking advantage of the complementary expertise within each of the five ovarian SPOREs and really moving a number of collaborative efforts forward.
To date, most of these collaborative efforts have been in the screening arena. Because of that infrastructure that they have built, they have also been able to successfully collaborate with other NCI networks, like the cancer genetics network, the early detection research network, and also the PLCO, the prostate lung cancer ovarian screening group.
We would like to extend the collaborative efforts of the SPORE group to the GOG network, which I believe is one of the few networks that actually, at this point in time, they don't have any really active collaborations with. So, I am hoping that we can identify some things that we can work on together. Thank you.
